Ghesquiere’s autumn collection

August 30th, 2007

Fusion style lovers will for sure like autumn collection from French house Balenciaga created by Nicolas Ghesquiere. This collection has been recognized as the brightest one during Pret-a-porter week in Paris: it sparkles with unusual combinations of the East and West, expressed in light goffered dresses with prints and gilt silk scarves with a fringe, and also in tempting trousers – breeches, visible from under tight jackets on a belt-corset. Nicolas Ghesquiere has skillfully played with color – in his models there are non-standard combinations of orange with red and green, violet with green and bright – blue with brown.
Epatage-lover British Vivien Westwood has filled collection with rather quaint prints with children’s figures, has decorated dresses with ridiculous hats – bolivars and huge dresses – poncho and the cardigans-plaids of bright colors which catch the eye with ” ragged ” cut and expensive fabrics.

Fashionable colors of the autumn

August 28th, 2007

It seems that color spectrum of the oncoming season will be complex, exotic and designing.
So, stylists advise to supplement a graceful coat of espresso color with a weightless neck-piece, “to season” the wardrobe with bright shades of Chile-pepper or exotic citric karri.
Do not forget that many seasons one after another designers rewarded the nature, and the autumn ‘07 did not become an exception. Eco-colors are still in fashion, but they are as if mixed a little with a roadside dust. The real hits of the next autumn will be color of the wood moss a little yellowed from a bad weather, and a blue-grey color of the frowned sky.
Perhaps, the most fashionable color of the outgoing summer was turquoise which as appeared, is not yet ready to hand over its positions.
But the most actual will be almost all shades of grey, but they will become almost transparent, as if smog of the morning megapolis. The clothes of dust color with light blue or gently-violet shades will be the most stylish.

Actual trends of the season: retro-glamour

August 24th, 2007

This autumn retro returns in fashion. An abundance of flying-away skirts with frills, throat-wraps, high gloves, jerkins, tweed coats and elegant suits with large buttons in collections of leading western designers is evident confirmation to that.
If you need to fill up the collection of autumn coats and dresses with classical womanly images – there are no variants better, than those suggested by the Italian brand Alberta Ferretti. Also Alberta Ferretti suggests tiny black and dark-lilac dresses in the best traditions of Mary Kuant. Rather discreet tweed suits and slim line dresses has presented Donatella Versace, who has made accent on convenience and a practicality of the images. Look closely at sweaters-cardigans on a wide belt and to coats-capes – they are the best of novelties from Versace this season.
Retro style is also traced in the strict woolen Gucci dresses, which are created in the best traditions of military Europe of 1940th years. Creating a collection, designer Fried Ganninni was inspired, as she said, by creativity of the military photographer Li Miller. Slightly baggy velours dresses of dark shades and coats-trapeze, berets with brooch and velvet purses – all this incredibly stylishly reproduces the last epoch.
Classical vintage models also can be met in new collections from Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Julian MacDonald, Hermes, Paul Smith, Louis Vuitton and many others.

Autumn trend: the “Indian” trousers

August 23rd, 2007

Though the autumn has not come yet, the new model of trousers – so-called Indian trousers, wide above and narrowed to bottom, – offered in autumn collections, has already found unprecedented popularity.
Retailers such as Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Matches, Browns and Selfridges also shortly plan to fill up the warehouses with Indian trousers. Some kind of “founder” of this trend became designer Nicolas Ghesquiere who creates collections for Fashion House Balenciaga.
«At that very moment when first Balenciaga’s model has stepped on a podium, all of us have understood, that this silhouette becomes hit of a season», marks Matches’ fashion director Bridget Cosgrave.
“This is completely new silhouette. Women are bothered with narrow jeans, and small women will never be stylish in bell-bottomed jeans. The Indian trousers from this point of view will be probable the best variant”.
However the Indian trousers are not so are simple in use as it may seem. Certainly, they hide problem hips, but can visually make calves fuller if are too narrow. The good decision is to get model with a line of buttons from calves down to an anklebone which will allow to make trousers more loose. The Indian trousers allow to experiment with other parts of the attire: you can put on a blouse, silk shirt with a thread of pearls and also classical black roll-neck sweater. The main thing is always to emphasize a waist with a belt.

All attention – to the details

August 22nd, 2007

Accessories will play special role this autumn. Even the most ordinary office dress designers supplement in a new season with a bright brooch or glamour hat – so that the light mood of summer doesn’t vanish with approach of the first colds, and was kept for long months. Wide belts – leather, varnished, made as corsets and with ribbons decorate almost any model in new Burberry collection. John Galliano used in his dresses for Christian Dior magnificent bows, original hats from feathers for evening goings out and lacy furnish on sleeves. Narrow bands of checkered scarves in the best Scottish traditions and trend varnished gloves supplement almost each model in a new collection from Jean Paul Gaultier, and American designer Anna Sui the basic accent of her collection has made not on clothes at all, but on the most beautiful bright dark blue jackboots completing almost every image.
Nice fur boleros and artificial short fur coats perfectly decorating any evening dress can be found in new collections from Donna Karan and Vera Wang. The last, by the way, has added to the collection practical and attention-getting fluffy scarves.
Woolen and tweed berets come back in fashion again – oblique on one side, they are perfectly match both a classical coat, and more modern sports attire. Berets this fall should be bright, with prints and applications and even with round fluffy pompons.

Elie Saab Haute Couture autumn – winter 2007

August 21st, 2007

With the help of Marilyn Monroe’s and Elizabeth Taylor’s voices, which accompanied fashion show and a number of flickering attires of grey colors Elie Saab has clearly let know that his creations in the best way will suit heroines of Hollywood «factory of dreams».
The collection has included 55 mainly silvery and grey evening dresses with several black attires. Light attires – with corsets, with open shoulders – have been decorated with crystals, platinum color fringe, covered with paillettes.
Even day time dresses looked as if created for the ceremony of awarding. It is quite possible that choosing a narrow area and an attempt to reach the maximal perfection in it is the good decision for the designer, however Elie Saab’s collection, unfortunately, appeared more similar to the catalogue, than to the true example of haute couture.
The designer has actually broken the organic law distinguishing him from traditional manufacturers of usual clothes: each separate attire should be special in itself, and a woman in it should feel that she will stand out among the others. The number of hand-worked embroideries, ornaments and everything else became senseless, as repeatability of models has reduced these efforts to a minimum.

The collection included both bikini, and the whole swimsuits decorated with golden details and furnish by crystals – as a whole all collection was very magnificent and at the same time suitable for wearing.

Beach wear 2008: the best swimsuits of the Miami Fashion Week (Part 2)

August 17th, 2007

The designer of Becca brand – Rebecca Virtue – created her collection basing on the image of Brigitte Bardot in her thirty. With the help of bright colors mixture, prints and original accessories, Virtue has created collection very fashionable and suitable to a daily life. Brigitte Bardot image became inspiring also for the singer Jessica Simpson, who has presented her first collection of bathing clothes within the framework of the Miami Fashion Week. Red, white and blue colors and also flower prints prevailed in the collection; swimsuits have been supplemented with footwear, handbags and accessories from the Simpson brand. As a whole, collection became a harmonious combination of classical style and pop-business, an excellent debut on a podium for the singer.
Theme of the first beachwear collection from the jeans clothes brand True Religion became “Summer – 69″, where models in bandannas and “aviator” dark glasses entered the podium to the sounds of «We Will Rock You». This collection has fully justified the motto We Will Rock You – bright triangular bikinis, crocheted swimsuits and bikini of metal colors. Certainly, True Religion designers should have used denim in creation of their swimwear, though true “hits” of the show were velvet and translucent bikinis with flower prints and bikini from a leather of metal colors.
Shay Todd collection has made the basic accent on the color, and bright shades of purple, yellow and blue have vivified the podium. Color dresses and swimsuits with gilded details and applications in yellow and blue colors slightly reminded classical Versace collections.
