Summer 2007: «Give me Liberty!» (Part 2)

July 16th, 2007

Designers Michael and Nicole Colovos have presented their first cruise collection for Helmut Lang, having added a little risky glamour to images of the brand, known by its at times excessive sugariness. Working in a graphic palette from black and white, designers have preferred the minimalism once making a Fashion house’s basis. Knitted details, deep cuts and layers have added depths both to straight and strict silhouettes, and softer and delicate ones. “Hits” of the show were some straight narrow suits.
The place of dresses with wrap over created by designer Diane von Furstenberg in the new cruise collection have taken tunics with А-shaped silhouettes. Zippers became decorative elements on mini-dresses; the abundance of paillettes and rivets decorated skirts.
At last, Valentino cruise collection, who is actively preparing for Fashion House’s 45th anniversary celebration in Rome, has become 43th cruise collection of the designer. Valentino, who knows all his clients, has offered in a new collection dresses and suits in style of the true ladies: some are decorated with flower applications, others – with prints and laces.

Summer 2007: «Give me Liberty!» (Part 1)

July 13th, 2007

«Give me Liberty!» – such could be the motto of Stella McCartney’s cruise collection. While other designers tried to recover prints in Ossie Clark style, Stella has transformed a classical flower pattern into long and coquettishly – playful attires. Besides the collection includes day time dresses in the pastel colors and cocktail dresses with paillettes.
Bottega Veneta’s designer – Tomas Maier – most decisively changed the idea about traditional fashion shows and instead of the organization of the show has sent to representatives of the fashion industry DVDs showing his collection. A little bit African stylistics expressed in an embroidery, ethnic prints and a dimmed color palette.
Visiting Kyoto inspired Derek Lam to create his cruise collection – the influence of the Japanese style was present in red silk dresses. However the doubtless advantage of collection was absence of strongly determined themes. Collection includes many dresses, everyone distinguished by something individual. For red paths’ “haunters” Derek Lam has presented two amazing dresses: magnificent purple and white with a dissymmetric drapery.

Much easier for wearing are simple checked patterns (as, for example, offer Max Sports and Luella), which can create a coquettish and lovely image. Checked patterns are those prints, which are in general, loved by many fashionable brands. In particular, checkered pattern are offered by Abercrombie, American Eagle, Juicy Couture. More womanly are patterns from Abercrombie and Forever 21 – such shorts can be worn with high-heel sandals.

July 4th, 2007

Recently French brand Balenciaga has pleased the public with a strange novelty which was discussed in all glossies. It seems that it is all the same shoes, however they cause feeling as if the well-known firm has suggested us to skate in summer streets.
At first sight, these tremendous sandals is a combination of ski boots and roller skates. Plastic fastenings, black grid and protectors do not leave doubts, that some parts of shoes have been somehow borrowed from sports regimentals. However if to pay attention to a mad palette of colors – green, yellow, red and dark blue it seems that it is the ultrafashionable essential element from Will Smith’s clip of 90th.
However, everything has the right to existence. The last question – what to carry it wiith, if, certainly, there will be such desperately courageous ladies. Here, it is necessary to tell, Balenciaga sandals are not lonely in their puzzling eccentricity, as even in most expensive boutiques sometimes has strange things. So the excellent pair to these sandals will make fabulously expensive handbag-”patchwork” from Louis Vuitton.

After a delay caused by the strongest downpour in New York, models in sunglasses appeared on Luca Luca podium in summer clothes strongly reminding the twentieth years, an inceptive trend of the season. These light pleated dresses could have easily worn Daisy Buchanan; however lacing gave them a little bit sports view.
According to designer Orlandi, the collection has been created first of all for those women who are «today in Rome, and tomorrow – in Osaka», however the basic theme of the collection was all the same more close to Jackie O’s style. Jacquard coats looked light and flimsy and suits otherwise were cut out for a respectable, adult woman.
