The performance arranged by Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel in Los Angeles, was so recklessly impudent, so alive and original, that has deserved applauses before the first model has appeared on a podium. This year Lagerfeld has chosen as a place for his show a plane hangar in Santa Monica. Hangar was decorated as an exclusive room of rest at the airport, pleasing visitors by three cocktail bars and by two Challenger 601 planes with crowd of models who showed Chanel collection.
«The airports and flights became literally a nightmare», declared several minutes later Lagerfeld. «Los Angeles, nevertheless, is an embodiment of a dream about private planes, stylish automobiles and glamour. Cruise collections embody dream of freedom».
Chanel’s glamour was realized in narrow satiny tunics with long skirts, something reminding Poiret style, and set of bright color accessories. «Evening dresses were just brilliant», said Victoria Beckham who appeared on the show in one of Chanel vintage creations. «Fashion has come to Hollywood. Lagerfeld has opened a way to many other designers, I hope». However Lagerfeld declares, that the next place of his show, most likely, will be Monte Carlo. Eventually, the designer has already experimented with planes, trains and buses – the logic step should be yachts in Monte Carlo.
