Returning of a “feminine and imperious woman”
After almost twenty years of oblivion the image of a “strong woman» has returned into fashion. This image was created by the eightieth: trouser suits and jackets with laid on shoulders have found a new life in autumn collections of many designers, therefore the fashion of the autumn season became almost exact antithesis to the summer style with its abundance of white color, free silhouettes and romantic images.
For example, Yves Saint Laurent has shown that very trouser suits and blazers with high shoulders. Christian Dior’s models walked on a podium in suits with the narrow skirts. Cardigans with laid on shoulders have appeared in Stella McCartney’s collection. Marc Jacobs has presented a line of trousers and skirts with a short waist, having combined them with jackets. Midi length became an absolute dominant in his collection.
Yves Saint Laurent’s creative director believes that this style, which has been born in the eightieth and appeared today again, makes the woman simultaneously «more feminine and more imperous». Naturally, the image of a strong woman of the eightieth became much more elegant and less aggressive in new collections: laid on shoulders not so huge and the color palette is much more noble. «Actually, this image became very elegant and very favorable to a female figure - much more favorable, than, for example, romantic summer dresses», considers Harper ` s Bazaar’s fashion editor.
Certainly, not every woman today will refuse favorite free style for the sake of trouser suits. Growing popularity of such shops as Topshop, where both mothers and daughters buy clothes, has made fashion, perhaps, younger. However returning of skirts with a short waist and suits is an excellent trend.
