Main trends of Spring 2008: Psychedelia, bright neon colors and men’s style

February 26th, 2008

It seems, as if fashion designers have decided to return thoroughly to the 60s, with one of its mottos «Sex, drugs and a rock-and-roll». Couturiers have presented the whole kaleidoscope of colorations and abstract patterns, as if created influenced by psychedelics. Chaotic strokes and bright stains are main features of the trend.

From one extreme to another: after grey-black winter shades to the foreground have been brought bright neon colors – orange, yellow, electric, tomato-red… Certainly, not everyone can wear such bright clothes, therefore designers have offered the compromise – bright neon flashes on a background of neutral whole-colored clothes. It can be both a garment, and any noticeable accessory – handbag, glasses, bracelet.

Men’s style is still popular. Taking into account the general flower-romantic spirit of spring collections, it seems a necessary counterbalance. The most actual this time appeared punk and gothic styles. One of this season’s shticks is shorts in a combination with a jacket of classical breed, or stylized as a kimono.

As a whole spring-and-summer collections 2008 look very positively.

Main trends of Spring 2008: hippie style, leaves and buds

February 25th, 2008

This season we can see one more returning of hippie style. Most of spring-and-summer models this year are created this very way. Long skirts, streamy silhouettes, variegated fabrics, wattled sandals are main characteristics of the trend.

At last we can hide whole-coloured clothes, the main spring tendency – flower prints on clothes and accessories. Roses, violets, lilies, orchid – the more, the better. Last collections are full with flowers in style of the 40s, 50s and 70s, though some collections have shown “computerized” abstract images.

One more greetings from the past – safari style. Exotic animal prints (zebras, leopards, etc.) and sketches «from animals’ life» are in fashion this spring. Primitive motives in the Asian and African styles use also very popularity.

Main trends of Spring 2008 – Transparent fabrics

February 21st, 2008

Winter collections were remembered generally with the strict silhouettes and muted colors. And now designers have decided to get rid of depression and offered bright colors. Completely unexpected favorite of the season – yellow color, and not only gently-citric, but also bright yellow color.

As it always happens in spring, trousers and skirts became shorter, silhouettes – more womanly and tempting, and fabrics – lighter and more transparent. Couturiers again have decided to revive in clothes style of the 60s – however, they do it almost every year. The main trend of the season, strange, as it may seem – flowers, flower prints of all possible forms and sizes.

The more revealing, the better, – have decided designers. However, it is not so terrible – the main accent is on the light, flimsy fabrics, instead of something else. Therefore transparent sleeves or trousers in style of a concubine from a harem will be enough. The most fashionable materials – chiffon, silk and organza.

Youth fashion from Valentino

February 19th, 2008

Fashion from Valentino is an expensive lace created to order by masters of Lesage or Grasso, blameless cut and, the most important, recognized color shades.

Mixing ancient laces with the modern “know-how” of clothes, Valentino has created original and stylish things. The lace is still one of the main trends in a today’s fashion. The true laces personify pure luxury and genuine feminity.

European press has named Valentino «the poet of white». A white dress was present in all his collections. During the Fashion Week in Paris he has kept to the tradition.

Pink color is and again in fashion – it is a symbol of brave women.
And in a combination with lilac it looks mysterious and romantic.

In Valentino’s last collection the big attention is given to a polka-dot dress and suit. One of the most fashionable prints of the summer season – “polka-dot” in all forms.

However true passion of the fashion designer – to red color. “Red – the best color. It suits any woman, it is just worth remembering, that there are more than 30 different shades of this color”, – assures Valentino.

Men’s Fashion Week in Milan: Dolce&Gabbana and Armani

February 18th, 2008

Dolce&Gabbana
Suits from a brand not slim line. And if the jacket is still narrow in shoulders and reminds a tuxedo, trousers are baggy. Vest is also desirable among other clothes – and it may be put on atop a sweater. A tie is thin, almost as a string.
Also designers offer men to carry big bags-portfolios. Nevertheless it is unclear, what can be carried in these huge “capacities”.

Snow people from Emporio Armani
This brand has devoted a part of the show to snow-birds. The attractive jacket from materials with a snow effect will ideally suits for skiing. Huge cap will protect ears from a cold, and glasses – eyes from the sun. “For every day” designers offer to tuck in a little wide trousers in boots, to put on a golf and a huge jacket.
Well, certainly, here again you will see big bags and long warm scarves.

Men’s Fashion Week in Milan: Bottega Veneta and Calvin Klein

February 14th, 2008

Baggy dandies from Bottega Veneta
In clothes of this brand one can feel the true English gentleman, or the waiter. In Fashion House’s opinion, in a daily life the man should put on wide baggy trousers, slim line coats or jackets, gloves, and take a bag. They may also pot on peak-cap. For celebrations – a suit: a jerkin and again wide trousers. And for a wedding – decorate your appearance with the white butterfly, as the waiter.

Close panties from Calvin Klein
On color scale the clothes from Calvin Klein do not differ from works of other brands: all the same muted beige- grey-black- silver shades.

There are some models of cinnamon color, occasionally appears light blue. The collection reminds more autumn, than winter: light raincoats and jackets dominate; even a neck is not covered. “Shtick” of this brand is to tuck in a sweater in trousers. The brand also gives an opportunity to show all charm of a slim figure – due to raincoats and thin belts on a waist. And due to almost slinky trousers – to brag of slenderness.

Men’s Fashion Week in Milan: Gianni Versace and Prada

February 12th, 2008

Classics from Gianni Versace
Versace has always stuck to classical style with an accent of up-to-dateness. You will never see there a sweater of a strange form or misplaced yellow boots. Everything is stylish, strict. As outer clothing you can choose from a coat or a leather jacket.
Certainly, the combination of white and black colors is always fashionable. The white short fur coat, classical trousers, leather gloves are interesting enough and acceptable for our life. Black color in the collection was successfully diluted with white and pansy.

Prada’s imagination
The imagination of designers boiled over. Men were dressed up in fitting skin color blouses and bright red trousers. The general dark, faded scale of the collection was diluted with bright – dark blue suits and yellow rubber boots.
Men can put on shirts with two collars, a thin tie below waistline and a belt – atop of a shirt, to take a big bag and to look, as a true humanoid.

Fashionable clothes: Color and Quality

February 11th, 2008

Regardless of fashion and a season the neutral color scale of white, grey and black colors is “decent”.

It is necessary to avoid contrasts, for example, not a black skirt with a white blouse, but dark or a light grey skirt with a blouse of complex color – creamy, silver-cold or ecru.

The more complex color of a fabric, the more expensive it looks. Try not to buy business suits with contrast furnish. The collar, lapels, cuffs or pockets from a fabric of other color, break the form and reduce the price of the appearance.

The quality of a business suit consists of a fabric and a cut. An optimum variant – fabrics from natural fibers: gabardine, crepe, tussore, tweed.

Modern variants of women’s suits are not regulated so strictly, as men’s. The length of a jacket varies from 5 centimeters below waistline to 5 centimeters above the line of a knee. The main thing is keeping proportions suitable to features of your figure.
